"One of the best ever"
The 60 ring may be too large, as the 54 ring version has all of the same attributes, while both are the best full flavored cigars I have found. The Partagas Black is almost as good, but is harder to keep lit evenly near the end spoiling the experience.

"Not bad"
I saw this cigar in a West Village (NYC) cigar shop. It had the plume indicating a well stored and aged cigar. The wrapper appeared dark and oily with few veins. The smoke was medium bodied and mellow with tastes of nuts. A decent cigar if you prefer mild cigars but way overpriced.

"One Good Cigar"
This is my first "sixty" sized cigar. When I was in my local B&M and saw these beautiful Dark Black Maduro I knew I was going to get it. (I'm a sucker for dark cigars, the darker the leaf the sweeter the smoke LoL) So when I saw this Black Beauty In the corner (the only Series R Cigar this B&M had) in a box with brothers covered in plume, I looked through the box to find the best one and WOW. One of the best Cigars I've had, I'll be getting a box soon for sure.

I took this baby out and at first thought about how I would cut/punch it but I rarely punch cigars and with this large shape I quickly ruled it out. So to the trusty Xikar, now this cutter isn't made for a 60 ring but does the job beautifully. There is no way I could use it to cut one in half but all I did was press it hard against the opening of the cutter and it took off the perfect amount of the cap leaving a small rounded edge. Now the pre-light draw tasted different from what I have had before but good so it got me excited so I quickly went to light it. Used my torch as I always do taking almost two min to roast the large foot took two puffs and did a quick purge as to the long exposure to the torch (a ritual I always do with the start of a cigar which makes it very smooth)

This cigar had a NICE and good draw almost effortless but still not loose at all, perfectly firm to the touch. This cigar draws easily so it needs to be babied. (why would I rush this cigar anyway) Huge plumes of smoke very cool never got hot until I was at the nub and it burned my fingers. IMHO I would consider this if not the best Maduro, the best Maduro I have had. I have had others from the R series but I would have to say this one is the best. (A Toro bias statement)

This cigar is packed with flavor but did not even give me a single rumble in my empty stomach at the time. It holds a good inch of white with Grey zebra striped ash. I would say almost perfect draw easy but not too easy and lasted me over a hour and a half, a good two hours. I would say it is a medium to full cigar. This particular cigar was kept at my local B&M who keeps his humidor at 70/70 as he has many cigars that are high priced and do not move very quickly so this particular cigar had at least 2-3 months age in there and I smoked it the next day. I can only imagine it getting better with age. I'm not the best with naming specific flavors but I bet someone with a more defined palate would be able to describe perfectly. I felt like I was Smoking a bouquet of flavors that changed several times and were always pleasant. The best advice I can give you is at least try one.

"Bigger doesn't mean better"
This big and thick maduro has a coarse, toothy, and oily wrapper. I think it's too big for its own good as the burn is uneven and the draw is loose, giving the impression of an underfilled cigar. The taste, however, is pretty good; plenty of charred earthy, spicy flavors and some dark cherry as well. Decent, but I wish it would smoke better.

"Acknowledged, yet still underappreciated"
This is a man's cigar. Not for those who are more interested in the aesthetic qualities of a cigar as opposed to where this cigar will take you. It is not for those who are in a hurry, or are used to sex, not love making. The Serie R is a jealous mistress and she will require time, attention, and work. But, when you slow down and take time to get to know this beauty, you will wonder why you would have a cigar any other way. Pair this cigar with a high quality Whiskey, Scotch, or Nut Brown Ale and you'll see your pleasure increased.

"Decent cigar"
I enjoy the fuller bodied lines, GH Corojo, JDN Antono, etc. I have tried most of the Serie R line and find most decent but not great. This one is no exception. Beautiful to look at, solid smoke, good construction, straight forward, nothing fancy. I think most of the reviews are based more on the appearance rather than the experience. But each to their own. Enjoyable but if you like a real full bodied smoke dont waste the humi room on these. Try a couple before you invest in a box based on these reviews.

"Not as good as the smaller ones"
I like the Serie R 4 and 5s, but the 6 was a bit less interesting, possibly because of the size and burn time of nearly an hour and a half. It was medium+ in body with a smpicy maduro start. Leathery, oaky and cocoa flavors dominated the rest, and built in intensity in the second half. It had a definite dose of N and was strong and smooth to the finish. A very good cigar, I just prefer the 4s and 5s.

"Love the Serie R maduros......."
I always give this stogie a very good review. A very earthy, barnyard tobacco taste. Draw is almost always perfect with lot of smoke, remove your smoke detector when smoking these. I don't understand the previous review....an 8 for flavor and a 7 for construction should be a pretty good experience.....if it was too big before you decided to smoke it, you should have had a corona size! The wrapper was kinda nice but they gave it a 1 for appearance? Does not make sense.

"rediculous"
my friend gave it to me as a gift, i think i had mentioned to him that he should try La Gloria Cubana cigars before, but i didnt mean the R series, or Phallice series, as i prefer to call them. Just in appearance, they are a gaudy monstrosity. Unfortunately i think this is the trend these days, giant smoke stacks. Whatever happened to subtlety and the elegance of a an understated corona or 50 guage robusto?
anyhow, im not gonna lie, the wrapper was kind of nice. I expected the cigar to be overwhelmingly strong and bitter, but it was actually sweet and toothy and medium in body. Lighting it was a bitch. Draw was too tight as well considering the ring guage. Takes too long to smoke. And makes you look like an idiot while your at it.
Don't smoke this cigar!
This cigar is in dire need of a fitness regimen, 6 x 50, no more. Then and only then would i buy another one

I smoked the number 4 this weekend while playing a round of golf and I have to say I have a new favourite cigar! I went out today and bought a couple number 6's...These things have great rich cocoa flavor without being too overpowering. "not too shabby"
started a little spicy, but mellowed down to a medium to full-bodied smoke. looked and smelled awesome. some burn issues, but theyre expected with something so large. nothing too bad though, they were easily fixed. through the middle and final third of the cigar flavors of spice, wood, nuts, and overall earthiness came up. great example of a maduro. i'll probably pick up a few but they'll be either the 4 or 5. this 6 or the 7 seem more of a novelty to me.

The looks of this cigar were intimidating, and it lived up to it's appearance. Stout, is the best word, I couldn't finish this bad boy, got light headed about 3/4 down. Good flavor, great smoke and burn, but packed a punch. A serious cigar to say the least, smoke this one slow if you are a newbie.

"An excellent maduro"
I really enjoy this smoke! If it didn't take over an hour and a half to get through one, I'd definitely put the flame to at least one per week. Probably one of the most attractive maduros on the market. Rich, full flavor, (albeit not particularly complex), and without any bitterness or harshness. The construction is impressive for a cigar of this size as well. I agree with the last reviewer in that if the price was just a dollar less, this would be the industry’s best buy.

"Feel like a king"
This cigar is a powerhouse. I bought three of these last summer and smoked one immediately. It burned terribly and I was pretty dissappointed. I left the other two in my humidor and was pleasantly surprised how great it was when I had one on New Years Eve. This cigar is big, powerful, full of smoke, and has that classic La Gloria flavor that is one of a kind. I smoked it after a big dinner and enjoyed it with a pint of Guinness. I truely felt like a king. Not an everyday smoke, but perfect with a little rest in the old humidor and just what the doctor ordered for a special occasion.

Just finished one of these that I let sit in the humi for almost a year and it was superb. Aging mellowed this beauty out very nicely. Burn was nice an even and the ash held together solidly. This cigar was great. HUGE, but great. Your jaws may even get tired...but it is well worth it. The Series R is a superb line of cigars. This behemouth was not as full-bodied as some of the smaller Serie R offerings, but it definitely packs a punch. As another reviewer offered, it did burn a bit unevenly...but that is the only complaint. I have found that some of these are a bit young, so a little (8+ months) of aging does wonders for it.
