The Essence Series is Casa Carrillo's core value line, designed to educate smokers about the role of the wrapper in a cigar blend by spotlighting a different wrapper with each release in a planned six-part series. Each sub-line shares the same philosophy but uses a distinct wrapper and blend. The Sumatra (first release) features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, dual Nicaraguan-Honduran binder, and Dominican-Nicaraguan filler, made at the Casa Carrillo factory in the Dominican Republic. The Maduro (second release) features a Mexican San Andres wrapper, Honduran binder, and Nicaraguan filler, also made at the Casa Carrillo factory in the Dominican Republic. The Honduras (third release) features a Honduran Olancho San Agustin (OSA) wrapper aged two years, Honduran binder, and Honduran-Nicaraguan filler, made at the Plasencia Tabacos de Oriente factory in Honduras. The Connecticut (fourth release) features an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper, Honduran Criollo '98 binder, and Honduran-Dominican filler, made at the Agroindustrias Diadema factory in Honduras.
