Cuesta Rey Sun Grown

Cuesta-Rey is one of the oldest and most storied cigar brands in American history, founded in 1884 by Angel LaMadrid Cuesta and Peregrino Rey in Tampa's Ybor City neighborhood, then the cigar capital of the world. The brand earned a royal endorsement from Spain's King Alfonso XIII, who named it the official cigar of the Spanish court. Acquired by J.C. Newman Cigar Co. in 1958, Cuesta-Rey became a cornerstone of that family's legacy, and was notably the first premium American cigar to use African Cameroon wrapper tobacco after Stanford Newman discovered it following the Cuban embargo. Today the handmade Cuesta-Rey line is produced at the Arturo Fuente factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic. The Sun Grown designation refers to cigars in the line featuring an Ecuadorian Centro Fino Sun Grown wrapper, offering a richer, more complex profile than the classic shade-wrapped versions.
