Cumbres de Puriscal is produced by Tabacos de la Cordillera in the mountainous Puriscal region of Costa Rica, where families have been growing tobacco in the volcanic mountains for more than eighty years. The region's combination of volcanic soil, special mountain climate, and natural rainfall and humidity cycles makes it one of the more distinctive growing environments in Central America. All tobacco used in these cigars is grown from original pre-Castro seeds on a single farm. The line is organized into three tiers identified by band color — Gold, Silver, and Green — each representing a different body and strength profile, ranging from mild-medium to fuller-bodied. It is a rare true Costa Rican puro, with wrapper, binder, and filler all sourced from the same Puriscal farm.
