Cupido

Discontinued

Cupido debuted in 1996 with a single shape — a Churchill — and an initial production run of 66,000 boxes. The brand was created by Henry "Kiki" Berger in Estelí, Nicaragua, after he connected with Yossi Kviatkovsky and Dixi Monaco, who had a stockpile of Nicaraguan tobacco they wanted to build a brand around. One of the more distinctive aspects of the line was its approach to blending: each size carried its own individual blend and flavor profile rather than simply cutting a larger vitola down to size. The cigars were made with aged ligero long-leaf filler and binder alongside Sumatran wrappers and earned solid ratings from major publications during their run. The brand expanded over the years to include additional vitolas, and the Cupido Criollo and Tuxedo variations followed before the brand ceased production around 2002 or 2003.
