Don Melo Centenario is a Honduran puro originally crafted by Felipe Gregorio, the Copán-based cigar operation known for meticulous growing and production standards in the mountains of western Honduras. The brand honors Don Melo, a figure recognized as a founding father of the Honduran cigar industry. The Centenario was conceived as a limited-edition premium line, with each Liga (blend designation A through T) released in runs of only around 1,000 boxes — a genuinely rare production approach even by the standards of the 1990s. The all-Honduran puro construction reflects Felipe Gregorio's deep commitment to showcasing what their home-grown tobacco could do without outside leaf. After Altadis later acquired rights to produce the brand, the character of the cigar shifted significantly, and the original Felipe Gregorio version is remembered fondly by those who experienced it.
