Dona Flor Mata Fina

Limited

Dona Flor is one of the most storied Brazilian cigar brands, built on a lineage that traces directly to the family behind Montecristo and H. Upmann in pre-Castro Cuba. After losing everything to nationalization, the Menendez family eventually settled in Brazil's Bahia region, where Felix Menendez partnered with tobacco grower Mario Amerino to establish Menendez Amerino in São Gonçalo dos Campos. The brand takes its name from the beloved Brazilian novel Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands, a fitting tribute to the country where it was born. The Puro Mata Fina is the purest expression in the lineup — a true Brazilian puro, with wrapper, binder, and filler all grown from Mata Fina and Mata Norte tobacco cultivated in the Recôncavo basin of Bahia. This region is to Brazilian tobacco what Pinar del Río is to Cuba: the heart of the country's finest leaf. The blending was handled by Arturo Toraño, a cousin of the Menendez brothers and a member of the renowned Toraño cigar-making family. The result is a mild-to-medium cigar with an earthy, nutty, distinctly Brazilian character unlike anything grown in Central America or the Caribbean.
