God of Fire is the result of a friendship forged over a dinner in the Dominican Republic in 2003, when Keith K. Park, founder of Prometheus, the Swiss luxury cigar accessories brand, sat down with Carlos "Carlito" Fuente Jr. Park had long dreamed of adding cigars to the Prometheus portfolio, and Carlito not only agreed to collaborate but helped shape the brand from the ground up. The name came naturally: during the filming of a Fuente family documentary a year earlier, Park had repeatedly been called "God of Fire," a reference to his Prometheus brand and the Greek myth of the titan who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mankind.
The first cigars were released in 2004, presented in limited-edition humidors crafted by Prometheus and produced at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia. in the Dominican Republic. The brand is built around two distinct blending philosophies, one from Carlos Fuente Sr. and one from his son Carlito, resulting in two signature expressions within each annual release. The By Don Carlos blend uses an Ecuadorian wrapper over aged Dominican filler and binder, leaning toward a smoother, more refined character. The By Carlito blend wraps the same Dominican interior in Cameroon leaf, producing a spicier, fuller-bodied experience. What the two blends share is an extraordinary production timeline: after rolling with aged tobacco, every God of Fire cigar is rested in an aging room for an additional two to three years before release, ensuring a depth of balance and complexity that few cigars at any price can match.
Production is genuinely limited, distributed only through authorized Prometheus retailers, and each cigar carries two bands, the primary featuring the dramatic image of Prometheus bound and attacked by an eagle, and a secondary band identifying the blend and production year. The vitolas in this database represent the first two years of production, 2004 and 2005, making them among the earliest examples of a brand that has become one of the most sought-after limited releases in the premium cigar world.
