The Padron Black series is a line of birthday tribute cigars honoring the late Jose Orlando Padron, founder of Padron Cigars, who passed away in 2017. The series debuted in 2016 as an exclusive for Florida retailer Smoke Inn under the name Jose O. Padron 89 Birthday Blend, and has since been released for select events and trade show exclusives. Each release is numbered to correspond with the age Padron would have been. The No. 97 debuted at the 2023 PCA Trade Show as a torpedo in both natural and maduro wrappers, limited to retailer orders placed during the event. The No. 99 debuted at the 2025 PCA Trade Show as the largest format in the series at 6 3/4 x 60. Both are Nicaraguan puros produced at Tabacos Cubanica S.A. in Esteli, described as landing in strength between the Serie 1926 and Family Reserve. All cigars are individually numbered to safeguard against counterfeiting and packaged in 10-count boxes.
