The Trinidad Espiritu Series was launched in 2019 to coincide with the Trinidad brand's 50th anniversary, representing a complete reimagining of the Altadis-owned Trinidad line. Developed by Rafael Nodal and AJ Fernandez and produced at Fernandez's Estelí factory, the series pays homage to Latin Caribbean culture of the late 1960s and early 1970s — what the brand calls the 'Golden Years' of cigars. Each installment celebrates a distinct Latin American region through its wrapper choice while maintaining a Nicaraguan binder and filler core throughout. The original Series No. 1 is an all-Nicaraguan puro celebrating the Caribbean region, with the Fundador lancero available exclusively at Trinidad events. Series No. 2, released in early 2021, introduces a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper with a Nicaraguan-Brazilian filler blend, paying tribute to Brazil. Series No. 3, released on Día de Los Muertos 2023, features an extra-fermented San Andrés Maduro wrapper from Mexico over a Nicaraguan core, earning a 90-point rating from Cigar Coop and a #14 finish on their 2024 Cigar of the Year countdown.
