"A Little Heavy"
The La Gloria Series “R” maduro is a popular cigar and I decided to try one. The scent and appearance was excellent with a black oily wrapper and hints of spice. The first taste was full and pepper was everywhere. There were some nice hints of spice and leather in the smoke. About half way through the pepper was tingling and the leather was predominating with a slight salty flavor. This thing is fairly strong. The last part of the cigar’s taste proved no different with pepper, and salt, but there was a little coco at the very end. A clean burn with plenty of ash. It is a full one and although many love these, I would enjoy a milder cigar with some more complexity.

"Hey there good lookin'!"
Bought this one on looks alone. Beautiful cigar but a little bit of a crooked burn. A nice smoke that begins a bit spicy, but mellows out to more creamy and complex smoke. Notes of cedar and coffee bean. Medium bodied but mellow. Drink a dark coffee with this one!

Worthwhile addition to your humidor.

Pretty unexciting. Draw was tight. Taste was rather mild and weak. Pretty much like the other LGC's. It's unfortunate the quality of these cigars have declined of late because they used to be excellent several years ago.

"Pretty good."
I refused to pay $4 or more for these and finally got them for less than $3.50. For that price they are pretty good . I enjoyed my first with a Kessler's on the rocks. A very good combo I must say. Unfortunately to get a good La Gloria these days you have to buy the special editions because the regular line has become mediocre. A medium + maddie with a sweet richness that is consistently tasty. It didn't wow me but it was good. If you like maduros this could be a favorite. The beautiful dark wrapper burns unevenly and requiires attention. The volume of smoke is barely ample due to a semi tight roll. All in all a good smoke.

"What a maduro should be"
I'd forgotten how good the Series R maduros are. Dark and oily, this smoke does look a bit rough sometimes, and has a poorly applied cap. Mine burned somewhat questionably for the first 1/3, but after that it proceeded like a dream, with a long, white ash that clung strong and hard. Slightly sweet, earthy and with gobs of dark chocolate, this is what a maduro should be. I smoked this on an empty stomach and found it to be a stronger cigar than I remembered. Had to sit down and catch my breath!

"Nice. . . ."
I really like the Maduro No 5's so I thought I'd try a box of the No.4's & they didn't disappoint at all. Nice & dark, a bit oily too just like it's slightly longer brother. Rich med/full bodied smoking experience, just what I expect from a Maduro & especially a Series R. Definitely one of my reliable favorites.

"Great Maduro"
Still a little oily after more than a year in the humidor! This is one dark cigar! (Toothy and veiny too). The flavor started out with something like banana bread, but not sweet. After a while it became woody, yet never harsh or bitter. All in all, not a bad smoke, although I prefer the natural wrapper. As far as maduros go, among the best.

"num the lips"
This stick was oh so good with a abundance of smoke and body to go with it. The wrapper had some oil to it. The foot lit even and burned even with a flaky dark ash. The notes were medium to full with cedar and earth with a spicy finish that num the lips. A good go to smoke.

"started off a little rough"
This cigar came highly recommended, so I was pretty excited to try it. The first three or four puffs, I seriously considered giving it the heave ho into the el crap can. I set it down for a few minutes and lo and behold it smoothed out. Might have gotten a little hot on me..not sure. Rest of the smoke was pretty enjoyable.

"Holy cow, nice stick!"
This was my contribution to our NCAA night. I was rather down because my picks for the pool I was in went into the toilet, but oh well. I celebrated with this stogie and gave a few to friends. They bought the beer, so it was fair. This gar is smooth and full bodied. I even had a buzz going, and it wasnt the miller lite. Long even burn and a natural sweetness. This one is a winner, but a special occasion smoke most likely. Try it. This was not my last stogie of the night though 🙂

"Rich and Smooth"
Rich and hearty smoke. I was prepared to be blown away-- both by its reputation and by the serious oils on the oscuro wrapper -- but was pleasantly surprised to find this a really smooth cigar. Not as spicy as I expected either. A woody and somewhat earthy base with a touch of sweetness. Not the powerhouse I expected, but a fine everyday smoke.

"Spicy, tasty maduro"
A dark, solid and well-made cigar. Although the draw is a bit loose and can smoke a little hot, it burns very well and produces lots of aromatic smoke. From the start it's spicy, earthy, and tangy, with hints of black cherry; later it gets a bit creamier with hints of cinnamon and mint appearing. All in all it's pretty tasty and complex. Has a long finish and leaves a comfortable buzz afterwards. Very good smoke, and better than the natural version.

"Another good Serie R"
Like most of the series, this maduro started out spicy for the first inch, with a smooth and med/full bodied fine burn. The flavors were toasty, oaky, sweetly chocolate maduro and left a nice aftertaste and a good dose of vitamin N. I think the no. 5M is slightly better based on a number of comparisons.

"Great Short Smoke"
The LGC SR#4 is a flavorful little spark plug. The wrapper looks more oscuro than maduro. It's full body w/ a very good burn. Correct me if I'm wrong but the smoking profile of this vitola resembles closely to the El Rey Mundo Robusto. The SR#4 is just little heavier smoke. Recommended, however, I can't get myself to buy a box when a box of ERM costs roughly $30 cheaper.

"Yummie"
What a wonderful little fellow this cigar is. Stout and strong, but not overwhelming, with a satisfying girth and just the right length. Very sweet without being cloying, and a full tobacco taste to round out the experience. Also a marvel of construction. I have lit a few of these very poorly (outdoors on a windy day) and they have invariably corrected themselves in short order and burned straight and true all the way to the nub. Like all the Serie R, the #4 maduro has a fair amount of grassiness and ammonia when young. Pop them in the humidor for a year to mellow those flavors out if they don't appeal to you. This is one of those cigars that I find myself stroking with my fingers absentmindedly about halfway through. Highly recommended.

"gloria good after some rest"
My cigarist told me this was great so I bought a box. I ws not surprised when they they tasted somewhat harsh because my experience with La gloria is that they need time in the box and are too green. I was pleasantl surprised after 8 weeks of rest in my cedar lined box they developed a fine, strong and taste treat, and that at a reasonable price.

This has been my favorite cigar for the past year now. I love the mix of nutty and almost chocolate flavors. The smoke billows out and is a nice blue/white color that complements the solid white/gray ash. I've never had a bad burn with one yet and will continue to stock this one!

"best maduro around"
This stick can be harsh if not properly settled. I gave my box about 6 weeks in the dor and they were fantastic. All the ones I have had burned even, drew well, and were VERY full flavored. The strength is perfect too. I compared them side by side with la aurora maduros, bahia gold maduros, excalibur maduros, punch oscuros, aroma de cuba, torano signature, cao anniv maduro and cao brazilia, and la perla habana maduro This cigar tops them all in my book and I am not even a big fan of broadleaf maduros. I usually sway toward the brazilian maduros like the torano sig and the brazilia but this is just too good to deny. If anyone can find a maduro that tops this for a similar price and availability, please post it because I am running out of things to try in my quest to find the best.

"pleasant suprise"
This was a very pleasant surprise. The presentation was great and it was very well constructed. The burn did get uneven a few times but it did correct itself. The flavor consisted of deep coffee and chocolate. It was slightly sweet with a mild spiciness for an aftertaste. The cigar started to get a little harsh around the half way point so I purged it and it was as good as new. The aroma was great and the smell lingered on my mustache for a couple hours after I smoked it. I find this a great value for a sub 6 dollar cigar. It was the first of the Series R that I have smoked. I also bought a 5 and look forward to that experience as well. I think I may have found a new go-to cigar.

"Best bang for the buck"
This is a beautiful cigar, the dark maduro is my favorite variety of cigar smokes. It's construction was remarkable in consideration of the price. It's flavor in the beginning was very nice, nice & strong. I drank a glass of water with it to savor the experience. It's finish was a little harsh for my taste and this is the only reason I gave it a 7. I don't know how Enersto Carillo continues to produce such remarkable products at such a low price. This cigar smoker intends to support his non-gouging policy. Great smoke

The La Gloria #4 is the best of the lot...me and a buddy litup at a local DC bar and had a couple bowls of Chilli while smoking them. 6 beers later, the things were still burning. My wife didn't mind the smell on my uniform when I got home that night...not that that would figure into my personal rating of this beauty. I'll smoke these beauties with chili anytime.
