"great value"
A nubber. Similarly smooth and flavorful all the way down. Good burn (1 relight), nice white ash with those silver specks I love. Wrap was a little crooked and cigar had a bit of a bend to it. Medium strength, on the mild side. A very good cigar.

"Bad Experience"
Prelight the stick smelled, looked, and appeared quite nice. Tasted of Spice with a nice tang on the tongue. Lighting was easy, and the first few puffs were fantastic; however, after about 10 minutes, the canoe trip began with a heavy uneven burn and really harsh tastes. Obvious construction / filler issues. Regardless of effort and touch-ups burn issues continued. Tossed after 20 minutes.

"My Favorite"
I have been smoking this cigar since 2000. It is perfect for me, yes it does burn uneven, but so do many smokes out there. This has a very unique spice flavor to it, it is not for everyone out there. It is big which is a plus and has a very easy draw, as do most LGC's. My advice to all is to put this cigar in your humi for 2-3 weeks before smoking it.

"Great smoke"
I bought one of these yesterday to try along with several others I've been wanting to try. It appears that Ernesto read some of the early reviews and took some corrective action because my cigar was excellent. It burned evenly and the ash was almost half the length of the cigar before it fell off. It was a really nice medium-full bodied smoke with a nice amount of spice. I thoroughly enjoyed this smoke and plan to buy a box (at $95-$100 for 24, I think this is a real bargain).

"mediocre"
I think the flavor fell somewhat short. It began mild and I felt that as it burned more of the flavor nuances would come out. It became very spicy and essentially drowned out the flavors that were there. I got a spicy nutmeg and wood, but that was all the more flavor I was able to get. Toward the middle, before the spicy siege, I got a mild cream that presented and subsided rapidly. All in all, a mediocre smoke.

"Mediocrity Defined"
This cigar was definately mediocre. The burn was uneven, the flavor was not one of my favorites (tasted lots of tar), and it went out....twice (while smoking indoors). Did produce lots of smoke which is a huge plus in my book, but then again, so do Philly blunts....

"Pleasing and Relaxing"
At first I was not sure about the cigar due to it's size. After the first try it became one of my favorites. Full of sweet flavor and aroma and it draws nicely for a pleasing and relaxing experience.

"I cant get this taste out of my mouth"
I have never liked this brand, but saw the Serie R and it looks great. Thats it. The draw was...whatever. The burn was OK, but the flavor was terrible. If you are looking for a full flavor smoke, try the TTT Trinidad Toro.....same price range, but flavors are worlds apart.

"burnt fingers"
There is no way to count how many burnt fingers this cigar has caused. When I worked at a smoke shop this and the maduro version were by far the most requested from mature cigar smokers. The construction is always fantastic with an even burn and long, white ash. When you begin you are hit with a creamy milk chocolate and nutty flavor. As you progress the chocolate gives way to a nice spiciness. SLOW DOWN! You cannot race through this cigar like a mild conn. Take your time and enjoy the flavors. The best thing about this smoke is that it is the actual flavors that are stong, not any bitterness or harshness. Wonderful smoke.

"Another great La Gloria"
This one is great because although smooth and not so heavy, it is extremely flavorful. The burn is fairly even and construction is superb. For the price, it's amazing. Even if it were expensive, it'd be worth it.

"Quality Smoke"
I smoked one of these off the shelf. Big, good looking cigar with medium brown wrapper. Lots of easily drawn smooth smoke - kind of spicy at times, kind of cedary. Smoking it Nothing to complain about here - enjoy.

"Very nice"
This cigar had been in my humidor for at least a year. I'm glad I finally fired it up. The flavor was like carmel and walnuts, although not particularly sweet. There was even a hint of light coffee at times. The construction was perfect. In short, great. This would be a great cigar to buy a box of.

"Deep Cubana"
Perhaps one of the most toothy wrappers I've had. The dark Maduro was oily to the touch. The flavors were one dimensional, but there was a nice spice in that dimension. I am not usually a LGC fan, but this one is approaching that First Tier status that LCG fans swear to.

"Wow...."
After sitting lurking in my humidor for about a year, this cigar was outstanding. Spicy at light, it turned to a medium/full bodied smooth toast and leather flavor. Far superior to the fresh ones, which were already very good.

It is much better then the maduro Serie, which is the same thing I said about the Serie R #4. It was woodsy with a cedar sweetness, which was similar to the #4. No burn problems. I do perfer the #4.

"great full body"
A Large well made looking cigar with nice pre light aroma. Pre light draw was good with nice flavor. upon lighting a little overwhelming peppery flavor but probably from the cigar being a tad too hot. as I continued to smoke this cigar the taste became better and better. Full body with alot of complexity. A bit of peppery taste with out being harsh. A good draw and a very good burn. I was happy to leave my lighter in my pocket and not have to ever touch up or relight this cigar. One of the better non maduro smokes i've had as a maduro lover

"An Old Very Nice Smoke"
Addmittedly, I have aged these for a couple years, but it has resulted in a very smooth and flavorful smoke. No burn troubles, straight as a razor and even across the cigar. Nice. Let 'em sit awhile and see what you think. I've got some more waiting for another year then will try them.

"What's up with the burn?"
Ok I really wanted to like this cigar, but it would not stay lit to save its life. It went out on me about 30 seconds after lighting it, and after three times of that happening I chucked it. I have smoked hundreds of cigars and never had that happen to me, ever. I also noticed the cigar was soft before I lit it which I knew was going to be trouble. Has anyone else had this problem?
However the little time I could try to smoke it was pretty good--similar to the regular line but a tad stronger with a much stronger wrapper. This cigar has a taste all its own. Pretty strong. But the burn problems ruined it for me.

"Fantastic"
Bought 5 of these babies and have had them in my humidor for 2 months. Smoked the first one and boy was it good. Not over whelming but definently full bodied with some spice. Started to burn weird but straightened out and smoked great. Very enjoyable cigars and definently better than the regular La Gloria. I will always have some of these in the humidor!

"not bad, great value"
With all the rave reviews, I expected a little more. Very well constructed, excellent draw and good burn. The body was full but never harsh. A bit of pepper but it was a little light on flavor. This one was aged for 6 months so my expectations were high. These are a great value given the superb construction, but I was expecting more flavor.

"Wonderful with age"
I have tried a few of these cigars and have noticed a marked improvement with age. The first one I had was only in the humidor for about 1-2 weeks, just to try to even it out. At first it was very good with mocha and cocoa notes, but then about half way through, it became pretty harsh- not unbearably so, but enough to taint the experience. My next go around happened when I found one in a cigar store with plume on it. So I anxiously bought it and had it with coffee and my- what a difference. One of the best cigars I have ever had. Super smooth, tons on coffee and cocoa flavors with occacional spice notes- devine! There is not much else to say about this cigar which has not already been effusively opined. My one word of caution is, make sure you age it for a while before you go smoke it, those who rate this one down usually have had a green one. This is one of those cigars that really changes and improves dramatically with 6+ months in the Humi. On the other hand, cigars like the Gran Habano No.5 only require about a month to reach a super smoke and do not change that much after that, imho. Great cigar- highly recommended once aged. My top 5.

"A wild roller coaster ride!"
One word. Fantastic. Period. Nothing more need be said. This cigar, beautiful in appearance, flawless in construction, is one piece that sought to be savored . The cigar started off with a nice rich spiceness towards it, and as it went, it exploded into a tornado of complex, but mighty flavors. I noticed the cigar's flavor was dominant in espresso like notes. After taking my last sad puff, I literally cried like a child being denied his beloved sugar sprinkled candy! Get this cigar, for it is HIGHLY recommended, and tastes like a fine premium Cuban habano, if not....BETTER than!!!

Had another one of these having smoked a pile of cubans in the time since my first review. My rating has gone up a lot, these babies are solid, really a pile of flavor, great burn, a top drawer medium-full body NC cigar. A real winner. No twang but everything else is there.

( who does on a first time smoke? ) it took a little while to get going but when it did it had a complex and nutty taste that I enjoyed very much, good cigar and the price is reasonable for what you get.

"High Hopes..."
Appearance was quite nice. Beautiful wrapper, nice ring, an all around good looking cigar. Construction seemed good also. Superb draw, but maybe a little loose on the roll. The most noticable thing about this cigar was the volumes of smoke this thing produced!! Man, I was like an old steam locomotive chuggin around the block!! The downside to this was that the smoke wasn't all the special. It started out spicy, and I thought I was in for a wicked ride, but it petered out quickly. The flavor then proceeded to try and drum up different dimensions, but nothing really came through. The last half was filled with ammonia, pointing out the underaged tobacco. The burn was uneven throughout the entire cigar no matter how I tried to correct it and a gray flaky ash was prevalent throughout the experience. As far as value goes, again you get what you pay for... a $5 cigar. Overall smoking experience was decent, but the last half was more or less crap. I hung in there with high hopes that it would blossom into something good, but it just didn't deliver.

This stick burned even and the draw was flawless. Mostly mild flavor I would say, sorta nutty. What really surprised me was the buzz I got from this thing. Had to wobble to my feet getting outta my car after puffing this baby down on my 30 min. drive home. Overall a great smoke, but value wise I still haven't been able to beat the SLR Rothchild maduro.

"Great but there are better ones..."
Well, if these were a bit cheaper, say, about the price of an El Rey Del Mundo Robusto Larga then it'll be unbeatable but it's not. It's stronger than an ERDM and just a tad stronger than the Saint Luis Rey Rothchild Maduro but the St. Luis Rey cost half and the flavor is on par with LGC Serie R, it's just a bit milder than LGC. That's why I only order 1 box of LGC and 2 boxes of St. Luis Rey. Besides, unven burns are a well known factor of this line.

"Very nice."
Started off with strong cocoa accents and about midway changed to a nice toasty taste. The draw was good and the burn was relatively even. Burns a little on the hot side and will generate a good inch and a half ash. The finish was in the manner of a stronger toasty taste. Vey nice. What I also like about this cigar is the absence of an aftertaste and a distinct buzz. I have tried some of the top cigars in the "sub $6.00" range on this site and I would say that this is a good contender, but definitely not as good as the Gran Habano No. 5. That cigar is cheaper and better. I am going to age this cigar for a couple of months before my next try. I believe that with some age this will be even better than my first experience. I would recommend this cigar, but recommend the GHN5 even more.

On my way to buy some Padrons, the shop owner pointed out the Serie R No. 5 Robusto and told me it was an outstanding value and a great smoke. Wow, i was very impressed with this cigar. It had a great aroma pre-light and a nice feel on the tongue if you nub. It lit extremely well and the draw was about as perfect as I would want it. Nice spiciness throughout and a bit of a zing. Had it with a glass of port and they went really well together.

"Fvcking Awesome"
I had forgotten how good this cigar was. The wrapper felt like fine grit sand paper due to all the tooth it had. I knew it was going to be a block buster and it didn't dissapoint. Initially the burn was a little bit uneven, but it corrected itself nicely. The ash was fairly clean and held togother like through the entire smoke. WOW! The flavor was dominated by the taste of cloves, but it was not over powering. This is a full boddied smoke, as I sit here with my head swimming just a little bit. What a great way to wake up, this cigar and a cup of black coffee. I compare the character, not the flavor, of this cigar to the St Luis Rey SLR. What a terrific smoke.
